I've purchased tons of drum related apps and I would have to agree that amazing slow downer is one of my most used. Before I got that I had 'robick' which was almost as good (and much cheaper) but if you slowed down a track too much then the sound started to distort. Other useful apps I use regularly are Tempo, Tempo Advance (as you can increase/decrease speed) and The drum dictionary.

Hey Jacob. Man, right now I'm about to get an itouch, so I've been looking into different apps I could use. This article is just what I was looking for! I've recently started playing drums to music and playing by ear, so I definitely need to get the Slow Downer. Thanks for the info!

my drum teacher told me about Mapex masterclass (which I'm currently using) and being a novice drummer myself I think it's amazing. Speak for yourself that it's easy to grow out of, I'm still struggling with Lesson 28! I think Mapex have done a fantastic job with it compared to other toy apps out there. amazing slow downer looks useful too. :o)

I bought and tried Mapex Drum Masterclass before writing this article. It may be useful for someone who has no idea about how to read rhythmic notation on sheet music. However, as someone who already can, I definitely don't see the Mapex app fitting into my frequently-used iPhone app list. It's a tool that's pretty easy to grow out of fairly quickly. However, it did appear to be decently written.
